New Machines, Collaborations, Lead Times and Prices

Just over four weeks on since our first face shield prototype rolled off of our production line and we’ve now supplied over 100’000 units to UK’s key workers in hospitals, care homes, dental practices and supermarkets.

In addition to this, in reply to the overwhelming demand from our customers, we’ve also developed a full range of healthcare PPE to further support the amazing work of our “front line”;

As demand for our products has increased rapidly, we’ve been working hard to ensure we have the capacity to match this, allowing us to sufficiently supply our customers with quality PPE within a short lead time. With this in mind, we have implemented a number of initiatives that puts us in the best possible position to timely deliver our products at great value for money;

  • New Machinery – this week we’ve made a significant investment in installing a 2nd high frequency track welder, a Fiab 900 with a huge 20m track, allowing us to produce face shields far more efficiently as well as allowing us to manufacture body bags.
  • New Collaborations – despite already having huge cutting power, with two automated Zund cutting machines, cutting was the biggest “bottleneck” in our production line. However, earlier this week we teamed up with Zund UK, who will be supporting us in the cutting of face shields using their machines with their UK showroom. This move doubles the cutting capacity of our production line and further increase our efficiency. Check out the video below.
  • More Materials – With demand for our face shields now steadying and becoming more predictable, we’re now in a position to better plan our material purchasing to ensure that we are well stocked and buying at the best possible price.

What do these changes mean for our customers?

Our improved ability to plan ahead, combined with the significant improvements we’ve made to our production line means we’re now producing face shields significantly more efficiently and we are very keen to pass on these time and costs savings to our customers. As of Wednesday 29th April, face shields will be available on a next day delivery basis and follow a new pricing structure available to view on our face shields product page.

Sam Bramah, Director at FlexiPPE concluded,”when we started, out almost a month ago, there was so many uncertainties we really did not know what to expect, and so we are immensely proud of the support we have been able to provide our front line to date. The upgrades we have now made to our production capabilities will further enhance the support we can provide, by offering next day delivery on our face shields along with a significant reduction in price, two factors we hope will provide great value to our customers.”
